Spoiled Much?
Isaac spent Saturday checking out all of his new toys. He was so excited he didn't know what to play with first! Keep in mind that this does not include his new Exersaucer, high chair, or Fridge DJ radio. Yes, you could say he's a bit spoiled!
Christmas Morning
It was so much fun to wake up Christmas morning and be able to open presents with our family of three! Isaac was pumped to see what Santa had brought. We then enjoyed cinnamon rolls and headed to the grandparents for the day. Here are a few pics of his excitement and favorite new toys. These pictures make Dan and I even more excited for when he's older and understands a little more!

Cousins
Isaac got to spend some time with his cousins on Thanksgiving. It's hard to get a good one with kids full of energy!

He Should Be on the Demo Video
Well, Isaac had his 2 month check-up today. He is weighing in at a whooping 11 lbs. 13 oz. and 22 1/2 inches long. His head his 15 inches. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and about 25th for height and head. I guess the new formula is helping pack on some pounds! I knew he was a good eater!
Along with his growth checks today, Isaac had to have "2 shots and a drink" as the doctor put it. Before she started, the nurse warned us that babies who are 2 months old do not do well with the drink. She said they usually try to spit it out, so have the pacifier handy so we could give it to him to help suck the liquid down. Well, that wasn't necessary! Isaac gobbled that medicine down without a drop to spare! We didn't even have to wipe his mouth or anything. Apparently it tasted pretty good! The nurse was so impressed, she said, "He should be the baby on the demonstration video on how to administer this. This never happens with babies this young! This is great!" Dan and I are pretty sure that as much as she bragged on him to us, she went and bragged on him to the other nurses. (At least that's what we're going to think as the proud, medicine drinking parents) As far as the shots, he wasn't a fan but did get some cool camoflauge band-aids to help!
I think the doctor's visit wore him out. He was due to eat an hour ago, but hasn't made a peep since we left the doctor. We'll just let him sleep for now. I'm sure he'll eat soon enough. Way to go today, Isaac!

Bumbo
Isaac has been holding his head up a lot on his own lately when being held. He especially likes to work his muscles when he's burping, which makes the task a little more difficult. Because of his new talents, I decided I would get out the Bumbo seat and see what he could do on his own for a few minutes. Drum roll....

Takin' a Bath
Isaac is finally enjoying the bath tub. It was a little rough at first, but no problem now!
Nothin' better than chillin' in the tub!

He's How Tall?
In case you're wondering how tall Isaac is, there was a growth chart at the apple orchard. We totally plan on going back each year and getting the same picture. It just made us laugh!

Dan's Birthday
Thursday, Oct. 22 was Dan's 29th birthday (for the first time). Somehow Dan has managed to get 4 different celebrations out of his birthday. Nevertheless, one of those celebrations with his family was Tuesday at Incredible Pizza Company. It's a Chuck E. Cheese meets Rascals Fun Zone all in one! It was a lot of fun for all ages! Who doesn't like mini bowling, go carts, bumper carts and all you can eat pizza buffet?
Since it was Dan's birthday, he had to endure the embarrassment of their birthday song as we walked in. I guess it was worth it. When they were done singing, he got to spin the prize wheel and won $5 game card and 100 tickets! Happy Birthday, Dan!

Apple Works
I have been patiently waiting for the weather to get a little warmer so that we could take Isaac to the pumpkin patch for the first time. This week the weather finally cooperated so we ventured to Trafalgar to visit Apple Works orchard.
Isaac Meets Missouri
October 9 was Mem's birthday. Dan's dad was making a trip out to Missouri to see her for her birthday. Dan and I thought it would also be a great weekend for us to go out so that Mem and Pop could get a chance to meet Isaac. Once I go back to school and with the holidays it could get difficult.
His first 6 hour road trip was a success! Isaac must love to travel as much as his parents. He got to meet his great grandparents and his great-great grandma. They loved getting to meet him! Even though it was a short trip, it was a lot of fun.

Isaac Daniel Aud
Isaac Daniel Aud was born September 7, 2009 at 6:01 p.m. shocking and surprising everyone! Isaac was not expected to arrive until October 5. I woke up that morning and was pretty sure that my water had broken. Being this is our first baby I was not quite sure--actually I think honestly I was in denial because it was too soon and we were not ready! As we woke up, I tried to call the doctor to see what they thought I should do, but being that it was Labor Day there was no answer. I decided that it would be important that I eat some breakfast and take a shower before we headed to the hospital just to be checked and safe. Dan did the same. We then proceeded to wander around the house aimlessly wondering what we should pack and take. I still wasn't feeling any contractions or anything, but we wanted to be ready in case something was happening and they decided to keep us. We both went to the hospital thinking we would be there for a little bit and sent home.
Around 11 we arrived at the hospital and checked in. The nurse did a few tests and they were inconclusive. She called the doctor who decided that he would go ahead and admit us. I kindly asked the nurse, "What do you mean by admit? Monitor us for a few hours and go from there?" She kindly responded, "You're not leaving the hospital without a baby." Our jaws hit the floor! Wow! What a surprise!
Ready or Not!
We headed to the delivery room at 12 p.m. and the nurses prepared us for a long day ahead. To everyone's surprise Isaac started coming much faster than expected! Within an hour, I was having very strong contractions and they were making me sick. I asked for my epidural--still thinking I was not very far along in the whole process. After that was over, the nurse checked and I was ready to push. She called the doctor (who was at the other hospital) and he said to get started he'd be on his way. The rest as they say is history!
Isaac arrived at 6:01 pm weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. He measured 18 3/4 in. long. Because he was so early they had the NICU nurses standing by and really checked him over to make sure all was well with his lungs and there were no other problems. Thankfully he was very healthy and did not have to go to the NICU. What a blessing!

Baby Shower Weekend
Friday, September 4 Dan and I took the day off together to clean our house and finish up the nursery. Our friends Lute and Cassie were coming in town to through us a baby shower, so we wanted to make sure that we had things in order. We worked our rears off that day hanging curtains, changing light fixtures, new shower curtains, cleaning the house, etc. We thought we were just feeling productive and wanting things to look nice for our friends. Little did we know that we were nesting.
Sunday, September 5 was our baby shower. We had a great time with friends and family celebrating Isaac. I didn't have your "typical" baby shower. I've never been one for showers and the normal games. Cassie knew that it just wasn't my thing, so she came up with a football themed shower for Isaac. We just hung out with everyone and mingled over some yummy food. We did play one game in which I like to think is an adult version of Simon Says. My pregnancy brain had a hard time thinking of motions for the game.

After the shower, some friends came back to the house and we grilled out. All the gifts were thrown in the room and we planned to put those away the next day. (Little did we know that wouldn't end up happening). It was a fun day of celebrating our upcoming arrival!
The New Grill
Dan and Lute assembled the grill in the living room while we were at the shower.
Meet Mac
It's Been a While
So, Dan and I have decided that now that our family has grown we should use our blog a little more to share our daily craziness with our friends and family.
Three years ago I created this blog during a class I was taking for my Masters degree. Dan and I thought it was a fun idea, but at that time, no one else had blogs and people weren't too interested in hearing about all of our trips. (not to mention our only reader was his mom--thanks, Karen!) Therefore, ignore the gap in postings from 2006 to 2009. Hopefully our intentions will be better this time than next.
So....
Welcome back to Aud World!
